Riyadh Completes All Four Iconic Metro Stations with Western Station Launch

Riyadh Metro’s Western Station officially opens, completing all four iconic stations and enhancing sustainable public transportation across the capital.

The Royal Commission for Riyadh City has officially announced the opening of the Western Station of the Riyadh Metro, scheduled to begin operations. The launch marks the completion of all four iconic stations within the Riyadh Metro network, representing a major achievement in the capital’s public transportation transformation.

The opening of the Western Station reflects Riyadh’s continued efforts to develop a modern, connected, and sustainable urban mobility system designed to support the city’s rapid growth and future ambitions.

Recognized as the largest of the four iconic Riyadh Metro stations, the Western Station joins the King Abdullah Financial District Metro Station, STC Al Olaya Metro Station, and Qasr Al Hokm Metro Station as key landmarks within the network.

The station has also earned LEED Gold certification, highlighting its commitment to environmental sustainability, energy efficiency, and innovative architectural design.

Built across an impressive 112,000 square meters, the station offers a range of integrated facilities and public services. These include commercial spaces, a sensory garden, public amenities, and a mosque capable of accommodating up to 550 worshippers.

To support commuters and visitors, the station also provides parking facilities with capacity for more than 600 vehicles.

According to the Royal Commission for Riyadh City, the Western Station is designed to handle over 60,000 metro passengers per hour in addition to approximately 1,300 bus passengers per hour, making it one of the city’s most important transportation hubs.

The new station is expected to significantly enhance connectivity between metro lines and major destinations across Riyadh while encouraging residents and visitors to increasingly rely on public transportation.

With the completion of all four iconic stations, Riyadh Metro enters a new phase in its journey toward building a smarter, more sustainable, and globally connected capital city.
