A smarter Hajj experience is now a reality as Saudi Arabia introduces a digital visitor ID for pilgrims. This innovation allows seamless travel across the Kingdom without carrying a physical passport, enhancing safety, convenience, and mobility during the pilgrimage.
The General Directorate of Passports in Saudi Arabia has introduced a digital visitor ID for Hajj pilgrims, enabling them to travel seamlessly across the Kingdom without the need to carry their physical passports.
Pilgrims can obtain this digital ID by registering through the Ministry of Interior’s Absher platform. This initiative is designed to simplify movement and enhance the overall travel experience during Hajj.

According to the directorate, the digital visitor ID is an officially recognized form of identification, allowing pilgrims to move safely and conveniently throughout Saudi Arabia. By replacing the need for a paper passport within the Kingdom, the ID not only improves ease of access but also reduces the risk of loss or damage to important travel documents.
This step reflects Saudi Arabia’s continued efforts to leverage digital solutions in improving services for
pilgrims and ensuring a smoother, more secure Hajj journey.
